Cathy Eden has been a professional writing coach for the past 10 years. Hundreds of aspiring writers of all abilities have attended her classes or worked privately with her on projects.
She draws on 25 years of experience in the publishing industry, both as an editor and as author of over 1000 published magazine feature articles.
Cathy has a background in social science, teaching and journalism. She began her writing career in 1989, working as a features writer for various newspapers and magazines before joining South Africa's leading women's magazine, Fairlady, in 1993 as features editor. In addition to running the features department, she was also a writer specialising in travel, complementary health, self-help and human interest stories.
Since 2000 she has worked as a freelance writer and editor while researching topics related to emotional and spiritual intelligence. A desire to share the tools that have profoundly affected her own life led her into corporate training (customer service and leadership), teaching (professional communication and writing skills) and small group facilitation (creative writing and journal writing).
In 2009 Cathy won the Pica Award for Feature Writer of the Year.
